Get rid of Gmail ads
Do you find the ads on Gmail annoying?
Yeah, neither do I. But if you’re one of those people who simply cannot stand the presence sponsored ads while using Gmail, there is a way to get rid of them.
As you may already know, the ads that you see on Gmail are directly correlated with with the words in the email itself. So if, for example, Google sees the world “travel” anywhere in the email, you’ll likely see ads from the likes of Expedia and Travelocity. But apparently, there are words that Google won’t touch.
Joe McKay did some fairly extensive research on the subject and discovered that if Google finds words like “suicide” and “murder”, all ads will be removed:
Look ma! No ads!
Of course, finding ways to use those words within the context of your email might be a problem. Regardless, it’s still pretty neat. See the interesting results of Joe’s findings at his website.
Alternatively, Firefox users can just use the Adblock Plus addon.

Say it’s the signs of the time, or maybe its a long time coming, but San Francisco has all of a sudden become a hot haven for street vendors popping up around town and especially in the Mission District. The cool thing is they are always on the move and finding them is half the fun since most of them do not have permits and always keeping a low profile from the po-po. The only way to know when and where are from their tweets. I included their links on Twitter below.

Citizen Cake
Under Chef Elizabeth Falkner, Citizen Cake offers “da bomb” desserts as well as meals. I usually go there for dessert only with friends on a special occasion. My recent encounter was a bit of a disappointment. They had split the restaurant into two separate spaces (separated by a door): Citizen Cake Restaurant & Bar and the Citizen Cake Patisserie.
Since we are only patrons of the dessert only, we were seated at the Patisserie part. The Patisserie is more like a non-service coffee shop. They now offer a quarter of what they use to serve on variety of desserts. Before the transition, my friends and I would walk up to the pastry case and mesmerize on the different variety. We were literally like kids at a candy store. Now, they only offer three different petite cakes: After Midnight Chocolate Cake, Retro Tropical Shag, and the Mocha Mi Su. There were exactly the three of us, so we ordered all three and got to share our desserts. All three were creative and delicious, (Mocha Mi Su was my favorite.) but we wished we had more choices. They also offer cupcakes, cookies, and confections, but what has been their selling point to us were the petite cakes.

Sinh Tho Nguyen
Now, this is making a name for yourself, Sinh Tho Nguyen. A Vietnamese American and a US Veteran, who is proud of his country, is on a cross country walk the likes of Forrest Gump. He an immigrant from Vietnam whose father was a US soldier during the war, has been on this walk for more than 1000 miles now. He will soon hit his home town in Fort Worth, Texas with his final destination being San Diego.
He is not in it for the money, or any type of cause, but just walking to show his support for the American Troops and America. In these tough time, seeing someone like him and his efforts makes you want to just jump right in an join him. He is an inspiration to me and want to give a shout out to him, and hope he makes it to San Diego wearing something more comfortable than his worn out Crocs.
